£ 30  rose joints typically £ 3 so £ 6 for both, skewer maybe £ 4, metal rod £ 1, plate £ 1 so there is a pretty good mark up (I didn't take into account labour but somebody with a hacksaw and drill could knock one out).

Hmmm, some optimistic cost projections 02gf74. The iso2000 spec for disc brake fittings specifies a 0.1mm manufacturing tolerances and the high stresses involved round that area will require decently specced and quality assured materials. The plate that fits the dropout needs to have a recess or offset to bring the eyelets back in line with the dropout so would need to be die-cast, forged or machined to accommodate this feature. The metal rod appears to be an alloy item that has been machined with a slight taper each end presumably to shave a few grammes and improve aesthetics. The qr skewer is non standard length so again would incur more work. All this would ramp up the cost. I agree there must be a markup otherwise they wouldn't make it but I imagine its not as much as you think. Now when you compare it to the cost of the A to Z adapter, I think it's a bit of a bargain! I'd certainly be more confident using the Onza item over the A to Z. I actually have an A to Z but have never used it yet as I was put off by poor reviews. I've also procured some rose joints for, as you said, about 3 quid and so I may have a stab at fitting the A to Z but adding a link to the brake boss as in the Onza. However with A to Z's selling for 20 odd quid second hand on popular auction sites I'd probably be better off flogging it and going down the Onza route.

I would not be so sure about that - a rod with 2 rosejoints at each end, ok, so it is not tapered but a straight side rod isn't going to look too bad. It would take a fair bit of time though.

:p ;)

Im sure you would make a very nice job of it.

i got one of the A2Z adaptors or a bike i bought.... i sure would not consider buying one.. it might work ok with a cable disc caliper that had little clamping force but i would not use it with a hydraulic setup.
this onza one looks 100 times better. 30 quid for it looks quite reasonable. to me.

Re:

Hey folks, I've been hunting around for the onward converter, and can't find it for sale anywhere, dans it still available? If so where from? Thanks
