On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

2 wheels are most people’s happy place on here. Whether it be powered or pedalled.

Completely understand e-bikes are another type of bike but struggle to see how they are more fun when they weigh as much as a pedal n pop.

You view climbs as a slog?

If we talking mtb climbs that’s half the fun. Picking a line and using skill to hop , power and scramble up it. Any climbs less than say 30’mins should be easily dismissed by a fit rider
Or you can just do a clarkson style “power” and get the same result I guess.

Can’t imagine many downhill mtb lines can be ridden faster on a ebike as once past 15mph you are left with a heavy lump that isn’t flickable or much fun.

Certainly in the Peak District or any trail centre it’s not the ebike riders at the front on the “knarly”descents ……

I'd like to see a knarly descent.

The ones I have done are the gnarly ones.

I think we indeed need some new categories to argue about.

Knarly
Gnarly
NNNNAAAARRLYY

Knarly - those rock-strewn chutes and ruts which develop in the Peak District - the ones which you think are a smooth rut and then suddenly you comes across a section loaded with rubble and rocks. Knarly.

Gnarly - Welsh and Alpine trails with all those rock steps and holes and dust.

NNNNNAAAARRRLY - anything on which I suddenly start panicking

Not sure why you think all E-bikes weigh a lot, mine weighs 13.5 kg and if you don't like them don't have one.

Isn’t yours a more Road biased ebike? As I’m more focused in my above comment on a full sus enduro type rig as that’s what are the ‘crowd’ like to say are fun (but we all know it’s code for “I’m not that fit but won’t admit it”

If only it was that simple as to not buy one.

I’ve no issue with e-bikes as I’ve mentioned several times. More the usage and some groups that use them.

I’ve friends who have them and we ride together. But none of them try to pretend that it’s for any other reason that fitness. They all ride maybe once a week (or once a month) and don’t have the fitness to enjoy rides without it. They don’t lie to themselves.

Haven’t watched that but I’m guessing a Warner (who’s paid by sponsors) on a dedicated E-bike platform says it’s amazing ?

Cynical? He's an ex pro downhill racer British champion and world cup winner. I genuinely believe that he lives his ebike. He's always been lazy as well.

I’ve no doubt he does. He has also admitted that he’s out of shape and riding normal bikes isn’t fun for him. Exactly like i said prior about my mates. I’ve no doubt he has masses of fun as he’s a decent motorbike rider too. But alongside being paid , hes never been a fan of pedalling.

Let’s be honest … there’s only 1 reason why you’d have a motor on a pedal cycle and that’s because you aren’t capable to pedal a normal bike at the speed you would like. Either fitness or disability related. That’s it. That’s the reason. Very few Ebikers admit it , but there’s simply no other reason why they were designed.

It’s all the excuses that ebikers come out with which is laughable. “I only have it on the lowest setting” , “I ride twice as far and twice as fast as you”, “it’s more fun as I get more laps” 😂
