On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

Judging by the guy I passed on the canal the other day quite hard since he was walking a long long way.

Passed him on my way out ….. 3 hours later I passed him on my return.

Even that is a good ride. I saw weight was 13.5kg on one e bike. Some of my "normal" bikes are that heavy. My Pashley Mailstar is 23kgs 🥵

Riding with a dead battery is quite difficult because now you are beholden to pedal not only the bike and your weight, but you now need to over pedal the mechanical resistance of the motor...which is an absolute PITA. At least for the Bosch system, this is true. I am not sure about the Shimano system. I think on bikes with hub centric motors, you can pedal the bike normal.

My bike above weighs 55 kg, so getting caught with a dead battery f'ing sucks. Especially if I have kids and groceries. My own stupidity for forgetting to charge though! On a full charge I can get around 45 km if I keep it under 25 km/h. If I am doing sprints of 45 km/h then I need to charge nightly.

Not sure what the Giant weight is but I will guess into the 20kg's! I have some old skool downhill bikes that are around that, e-bike is easier! As long as I keep an eye on charge level but I would be daft to go anywhere without checking range/battery level first.

What's charge time like, say a quick plug in while eating cake and a coffee.
