Olympic?

Hello,
I saw the bike on the sale and it seemed nice on the first look. I am an amateur, don't know much of these old bikes and couldn't find any info of the bike, except I the thread here.
The bike has written on it "Olympic spirit" and "racing hero". Could this be the same brand you are talking about?
Thank you in advance!

Okay...I got it, the bike brand is actually "HERO", Indian company so yeah, not Olympic 😂😂

@TomBag Yes, definitely not an "Olympic" bicycle. Hero has been around for decades ('50s), that bike looks mid '70s "bike boom" style ("safety" brake levers, stem mounted shifters). Not quite the same level of quailty as the Olympic brand (that bike's model is Olympic Spirit), and I doubt the frame is butted. Probably straight gauge tubing, and if you are lucky maybe chromoly steel alloy. I cannot say what manufacturing techniques were used, but they were mass produced so probably not the highest quality of workmanship; though I'm not saying it will fall apart. Seems in decent shape with entry level components though the wheels appear to be aluminium which might be why it has "Racer" on it (if they are original to the bike). It could certainly be upgraded and lightened with an alloy crankset and seat post. Better derailleurs and brakes would also help performance wise. In my market (USA) it would equate to a Schwinn Varsity or something along those lines; value about $75-$125 (£60-£100) if hub, BB, headset bearings are in good serviceable condition. I would assume the bike is in the 30 pound weight range depending on the actual frame tubing used.

Hello @Jesper,

Thank you for your time and detailed answer.
Here (Croatia) the price for this one is about 100€, so you were also right about the price.

Perhaps I will consider this one for city and outskirt rides.

Thank you once again for your help and have a nice day! :)

I'm glad I found this thread, I've just bought an Olympic, it has the embossing on the top of the rear fork stays, and poor decals , though excellent virtually unblemished paintwork. And campagnolo BB and headset.
