ok they have made 8,000 one for each runner (with option to buy )at £400 a piece to make as it was said......is it really £3,200,000 it's cost then ???

For the price it cost to make 8,000 of these things they could have built a school or something worth while ! and just have 1 torch passed on relay style and re-fuel it...........by the time each torch is lit and the other switched off they could have just done a re-fill on one, now if there was only one that would make it special and worth some money ........what a waste of cash in these hard times for Greece, how ironic :?

I think Spencer13 knows the firm where they are made...possibly in Bedworth....we were talking about it after work tonight.

The Olympics is a massive gravy train.

It's costing us , the UK public, more than £8,000,000,000 ( some estimates put it at more than 11 billion) to host it. Security alone is going to cost more than half a billion (not sure if that's only the cost paid to private companies and doens't include the police, army etc.

So a million or two for the torches is a drop in the ocean.
