What a load of tired clichés.

Tennis is full of "nice" people who win - Federer, Nadal, Sampras, Agassi, Laver, etc., etc. Neither nice nor nasty or anything in between are pre-requisites for winning. Skill, stamina and strength of mind, however, are.

Who said anything about meekness? You don't have to be meek to be nice.

I would like to offer an analogy.

I once jammed with Hendrix.

Don't ask, it involved a Telefunken Reel To Reel and a lot of mushrooms.

But Andy Murray literally jammed with Jimi today, and for a few bars at least Jimi sat back and listened.

Jimi never stopped to listen to Tiger Tim, he was always second guitar.
