As we are on retrobikes which is all about bikes from the past, which member has the oldest useable / rideable / basketcase bike? is your bike older than your mates or has he/she a vintage which you want to buy?
My oldest bike is a 1991 Orange Clockwork
PICS IF POSS GUYS

Theres a few pre-war bikes on here, especially clunkers.

My oldest usable bike is around 24 years old and getting older, like me, everyday.

By god that Hetchins looks as old as it is, are you going to restore it? are they standard szes for the parts needed?

I have a 1928 sunbeam . Catch is it's really a frame and forks with some wheels sat in so we can't really count it as a "bike"

Bottom bracket threads are possibly Italian ( too lazy to check ) they are certainly a smaller cup diameter than the common English and the right hand cup is a right hand thread ; took me a while to work that out

I really wanted to fit a nice set of profile cranks as they kind of look similar to cottered ones but I either have to have some cups made or have the shell changed . Both are pricey and as the frame is a tad too small it sits in the pile ; doesn't take up much space so is out of mind .

88 all original Stumpjumper, well used but everything just keeps on working. This is the baby that never lets me down. Slack angles, big smiles

Yes it is in sorry state. I found it abandoned with a bunch of other bikes and bits, mostly cheap Halfords type stuff. It was dark, so I couldn't see it properly, but instantly recognised the Hetchins trademark curly stays, so I picked it up and took it home.

I'm not going to restore it, but there is someone interested in it so they may. It will need period parts to complete it, non standard width wheels, clip headset etc. so they will have their work cut out. The frame is also badly corroded, so it will take an awful lot of work to make safe to ride.

Is it possible for the moderators to ban people for being jammy buggers?
