Funny that, having raced top end steel, top end aluminium and top end carbon, all fitted with pretty much the same groupset, wheels and finishing kit, with minor tweaks for fit. I've not noticed any significant difference. Except on the scales.
I still ride the steel (now almost a proper retrobike), the aluminium is in the attic waiting to be rebuilt, if i can be bothered. The carbon went back.
The wife didn't even notice when i swapped her red and black aluminium specialized to a red and black carbon specialized. Except it was noisier, and three times the price. (And she was racing at the pointy end of UK womens racing at the time, so no slouch)
