It's the knob that advertised and sold it to you who's disappointing - play your cards right and ebay will have your back 100% - hardy disappointing ... ?

All sorted, reached a compromise on a partial refund from the seller.

Looking forward to giving everything a good clean up over the weekend and putting some of the parts to good use.

My Kona Explosif mech hanger/dropout snapped on me when I somersaulted and landed badly. Fortunately the frame has a life time warranty and I sent it off to Palligap who brazed on a new one and it was impossible to tell once it had been powder coated. That was 5 years ago and I have given the bike a hard time and no problems. As long as the repair has been done accurately there is no reason to worry about it.

That's reassuring, thanks for that. It doesn't look the smoothest of welds, but it's certainly substantial. If I get the paint redone at some stage then I'll get the welds cleaned up at the same time.
