How about som Mavic rims, red Helium, Cosmic SL, Ksyrium SSC or some Campag rims, Atlanta 96 or Vento? Don't they have a light purple detail in the decals? Otherwise some Scirroccos or Zondas, something like that maybe? The frame and groupset is absolutely delicious.

I’m currently involved with Gen 1 shamals on another project…thanks for the suggestions -

Definitely not the Bora's. Tbh; i don't think they look good on anything, but that is my taste.

Personally; i like the Lightweight aesthetic with the black spokes being the same width as the black cables and the deep black rims match the crank and levers, too. Easy on the eye and posh to match the groupset and frame.

I agree, the lightweight wheels look so much better compared to the groupset. It’s not really about what’s retro, yes those wheels look retro but don’t match the modern look of the groupset.

😀

That's certainly better. Can't say that I go a bundle on the black spokes, give me some nice stainless jobs any day - and more of them too but that's probably just me being a bit old fashioned.

These DT Swiss wheels will do the job - have plenty shiny spokes on my other projects so nowt wrong with black on this one & these wheels are no longer manufactured…
