Depends what you mean by "lightweight".
The major intent with the Ringlé skewer was to "lose the internal cam" if the little circlip on the end of the operating lever got lost, the skewer would fall apart. Not too uncommon at the time with essentially road skewers being introduced to new failure modes they would never have seen on the road.
Perhaps American Classic etc was ealier, but still an internal cam idea. Ringlé was the first of what we know of as the lightweight aftermarket skewers in 1990 iirc..
