Now we have to say goodbye to both our lovely cats

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

Sad for any pet to die, infact its heart breaking and the best cure is to get another one.

Its worked for us several times and you can't beat cuddling a lovely cute baby animal.

Oh man, so sorry to hear that. Our thoughts are with you.

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

 Much sympathy.

Our last cat died on my lap in the waiting room at the vets, as I was waiting to be called through to have her put to sleep.

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

Ill stop you there LGF, it wasn't 'just a cat' twas a much loved member of the family, albeit small, furry and 4wd, but still a family member!!

I lost one of my cats two years ago too early, she had a growth in her throat and couldnt eat properly and wasnt happy, she had the silkiest smooth fur ive ever known, but she almost couldnt groom herself properly nearer the end, i couldnt be there when the vets said we had to decide whether to let her struggle on or be put to sleep, was gutted for that but it was the best decision for her!

The vets sent us a condolence card a few days later with the photo they took of her before she went out as the front, we have now had this framed as its the last photo of the most loving cat ive ever encountered, we still have a cat, she is about four years old now and absolutely mad, she brought two live mice, and a live goldfish home last week, all survived lol!

Try and remember the good times and the quirky things your little one used to do, will cheer you up a little bit (i hope) and maybe in a few days consider getting a kitten, it will never replace your Pixi, but it will entertain (as all kittens do) and slowly earn your love/aid with the grieving!

(Btw, the first line was a tongue in cheek telling off, im sure youll guess that but wanted to make sure you wouldnt take it as me having a pop at you!)

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

Sympathy LGF....

Give yourself time to grieve and then you will find kittens are the only cure.

Twinkle and Millie also pass on their regards!

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

Sorry for your loss, but I'm sure you gave her a great life!

I'll support what has been said; not 'just' a cat. No such thing as 'just' a cat.

If you want a short read, you can read the story of Jasmine, our cat, rescued by the Animal care society, Cork in Ireland. A sad story with a happy ending.

There are some amazing stories there.

Re: We had to say goodbye to our lovely cat

I'm really sorry for you loss Mark. I totally can understand a pet being a full member of the family. We are all animals on this planet earth so why should there be any difference in the feelings when one of us dies? I'm not so sure if getting another cat is a cure for the feelings you have towards that special friend of yours. I can only speak for myself and i feel like only time will help.
I have a dog, his name is Oscar and while i thought i rescued his life by having him the truth is he rescued mine. The day he dies will make no difference to the day my father passed away.
I'll will say a prayer for you and you wife tonight.
Adam
