I've just tried again this frame, (with a good rear wheel, previous was cracking):
it rides brilliantly! So decided to keep it
Sorry.

Hello,

Always the same mess
as an old good steel addict
i can't resist when i see a good specimen nearby,

and so too much frames (6now)
and money very straight...

I've said to my mind: only 3 frames!

i will keep for sure the 96 explosif and 95 kilauea
very hard to choose between the others
speed project lite, marin team marin 96, decathlon high end steel, and this 96 kilauea

(i run each one with the same componnents, to make a choice,
how the frame is going...and how i feel on it)

SO...for sale is:
19" 96 Kilauea frame, Columbus Cyber Nivacrom
Original paint, in quite good to very good condition, some rust in the decals
and usual paint chips you could expect from a 16 years old frame
but in quite good condition, yo my opinion,
no dings or dents at all
got a new columbus cyber seat tube decal, thanks to Ernie.
with
seat camp and dog collar,
kona post (O beam)

frame + post, saddle :125£ POSTED
frame only 115£

If splitting, will be interested in the Racelight seatpost if its a 26.4mm and a decent length and the guy above doesnt want it.

not really my taste, less contortable than Tange version, for a touring bike for example... and the ride is not at the level of the columbus max of my all day round explosif. This frame seems to have plenty of life left, tight and true, strong, i suppose it was designed for Race...

any comments welcome ;)
I find your impressions surprising. I haven't ridden a 96 Kilauea, but the 97 (similar but not identical) is certainly more comfortable than the 95 Kilauea. And the 96 Explosif is certainly more race-oriented than the 96 Kilauea. I'm not saying your impressions are any less valid than mine, but it just goes to show that different things suit different people.

The seat post is called an O-Beam (27.0) and was fitted to high-end models. Its value is about twice that of a Race Light lay-back post, as fitted to Cinder Cones and below.

thank you very much for comments...and light.

impressions are very personnal, that's good

so i will re édit my post this way.

Elie.
