NOS tyres

Maybe we need a 'Top Tip' banner :? thats certainly one of the best things ive heard on making tyres lovely. They do seem to suffer.

Ha! Thanks for that reaction but I think in terms of tips’ rankings it’s one of just many in the forum. :)

Had a crack at this today with a pair of Panaracers & I must admit I approached this task with some reservations, not least was the concern it might knacker the original tyre graphics, so I ran a test with an older tyre same brand/model etc and this worked fine. No discernible difference to the tyre but more importantly the graphic survived.
So, on with the bake. The oven was preheated to 100 degrees and the tyre were popped in.

12 minuets later and I was absolutely stunned at the difference! Check the photos below (I however ran outside with them as they stunk the house out!)

Nice. :)

How did you get rid of the smell in the house? Was it all gone and clear before your Wife / Girlfriend came home?

Started the process with almost every window & door open.

Would have got away with it as well, but the mother in law popped by and grassed me up!

Yeah, so, I had to drive to the bloody pub as penance…

Amazing thread, and wonderful results! This’ll change the way a lot of people handle older tyres from this point onwards. Thanks OP!

That’s great to hear. I hope this helps the whole community of RBers.

Cheers.

This is amazing! Check my before and after pictures!

Was slightly chewy to be honest.
