NOS Mustang frame £110 start

retro is modern stuff that looks old
classic is old and noteworthy
vintage is younger than veteran

to my way of looking at it

Wow, this has become a popular thread, I've personally not had time to read it, but I'm guessing by all the hits and replies it's quite a good value frame, so...........

Sniper locked and loaded............... :p :p

Just what I was going to say. It has been noted before that the term retrobike doesn't really suit our pursuits of old classic bikes, but i'm not moaning, classicbike.co.uk just doesn't have the same coolness to it.

Here's a question, which would you have, a Mustang in reasonable condition or a modern 100quid BSO? Two BSO's from two eras, pretty sure they build them better back then. Not sure what point i'm trying to make

Nice rant, thought I had logged onto VRC for a minute and not Retrobike :?

The friendly community spirit of this forum makes people comfortable showing off their bikes regardless of what they cost and many new members progress to better and rarer bikes over time so I don't really think it would be right to slag them and their bikes off do you?
I agree. For some people its all about the memories and not whether their old bike was crap or not. To them it was and will always be great.

Don't let this get all eliteist for God's sake. Or start flogging your Dekerfs and Kliens for peanuts to help those unfortunates that can't be as picky.
Absolutely!

It's not about them being objectively good bikes - of course they weren't - but then probably most retrobikes aren't objectively good in comparison with modern bikes - it's not about an objective measure, it's about an emotional connection with something and memories.

Without that, the whole ethos of the place is on dodgy foundations if we're just going to rap on about whether bikes and kit are objectively good.

Just another thing to throw in the mix, Raleigh mustangs, magnums and mavericks come with an integrated bracket for correctly fitting a kick stand...

Funny that your old Trek popped up on here LGF, just dug it out of the back of the shed the other day ready to rebuild it
