mebee if posters asked for "honesty" that would help ?
We run a forum for dog owners (of a particular breed).. there were so many complaints about honest comments made on pictures of dogs that we had to set up a separate 'critique' section and made it perfectly clear that whoever posted pics in there were asking for honest opinions..
That didn't mean that folk could be mean for the sake of it, all opinions had to be fair and true..

Not everyone wants honesty, some are just seeking a hey, nice bike.. I think the importance (to some people) of a positive remark, especially from their peers, is often underestimated.

Where do we draw the line though?

Stumpjumper Yes Rockhopper No?

Early Specialized had the previous years' Stumpjumper frames badged as Rockhoppers - so, you mocking Rockhoppers now? ;)

A Lavadome was for me a heavy uninteresting thing.

Any insider info on the white dug shite? I've heard it was bone ground up in dog food but they banned it.

ohh like that is it, i bhoy up your 7 page thread
and you dont participate in my longest thread (ever)

bit elitist that

Sorry about that mike, wasn't dissing you, but i think my presence is not needed there for a decent discussion

And anyway, i can't be seen to be mixing with the proles, now can I? ;)

Now I'm giggling at the thought of a forum with pictures of dogs and replies along the lines of

'That dog's s***, it's not retro, it's not even got the original fur on it'

It is undigested calcium from bone..
Still seen today in dogs that are fed a raw meat and bone diet.. like my dogs ;)

From lgf's link ;)

The most commonly accepted answer to this one is that dog poop turned white because dogs, back in the "old days", ate real bones and the calcium from them would make their waste turn white when it dried. Today's commercial dog food is loaded with filler like rice and corn instead of real meat and bone and organs. Veternarians are generally owned by their petfood suppliers, so don't listen to them when they hawk their dried kibble and claim it is better than a biologically appropriate diet. Instead find a farmer and ask him if he has any trouble with dogs eating up his cornfield...that should tell you how much dogs prefer a corn-based diet.

Bike snobbery has no place on retrobike, 'if it's old school it's in' end of.

Well said.

Let the thread run because it hasn't degenerated into 'the retrobike is shit, we're f**king magic' comments which often seem to follow such debates. Like white dog shit follows a dog eating bone meal if you will.

Some views I don't agree with here, some I do. Sometimes a little more constructive critisicm wouldn't hurt, other times the keyboard warriors should wind their necks in. As with everything it's a fine line and there is no right or wrong answer. The fact we're still here after 5 years and with 10000 users means we must be doing something right (or is that not everything wrong, I'm not clear).

More words would be a waste 'cause Pete's saying the only ones that matter.... in my opinion.

But this thread does need more photos.

Always tellin' it how it is 'eh? High fives and milky bars all round.

Nice picture of Ed although I'm unclear why you've posted it here. Is it from your personal stash? Are you a EdEdwards superfan?

We could be onto something here. Let's campaign to have plutonium added to dog food. The benefits...

1, glowing turds would be easier to spot on your favourite trails- no more dogshit on bikes, face and children.
2, the dogs and their owners would all die
3, the plastic bags full of shite that they hang from trees would melt and fall on their shoes instead. This one is particularly good, it's bad enough on the floor but avoiding dog crap at head height sucks!

Brilliant!
