Sad to hear you've confirmed its a crack, but hopefully its not beyond saving. Maybe covertly weld in a small stop at the max insertion point, during the repair process, if you decide to go on with it?

I've decided to cut my losses and sell the bike as it's caused me a lot of stress that I really don't need at the moment with other things going on in my life

The repair seems simple enough going by comments on my other thread, and it would make a fantastic project for someone. It's just not for me as I was hoping to get a NOS, uncracked bike and not one which needed work doing to it .
