Hey people
A little parts update
Who didn't love the Magura's back in the day ? I did for sure.
I never fitted maguras to my Kona AA back in the day,,,,but i had a trek y33 and a Five O,that sporten Magura hs22 racelines.
So...i have been looking around, and came across a set of the Tomac edition ones.
Not my favourite, but still a very cool kit.The coolest thing,is that the guy had a set of yellow hs22s as well...so I got a bundle
My problem now is that I cannot decide on which bike to put which set on..
I know that my Kona SexThree is supposed to have Magura Hs11s on,, but they were not on the bike when I bought it,soooo i initially got the Magura's because of the need for a set on that bike....but now when I got the Kona AA,,,I have two bikes to put them on...
Sorry for long post
Here they are....
Hey there people
So,,here is another ,,"kinda GT Lobo Sts Dh " update
I've always loved the Shimano Dx 636 pedals from back in the day
And obviously on my GT Lobo, i had a set of these pedals on.And they are these days, definetly in need of a resto. So this is what you will see in this post
So i decided to not go all bananas with them ,cause one of them did suffer a heavy damage,so it is abit bent, and not possible to get it perfect.
But I wanted to make the best out of them,so I straightened out the bent one as best as I could. Then i Filed down some of the worst damage/scooring in the end pieces. Then i painted them with a paint color,as close to the original color as possible
As I went along ,i decided to go on the hunt for a second set of 636 pedals, and I found a set that looked pretty clean, and with little use.And these have arrived, and I basically got a bargain, as they are close to mint condition. Just needs minor touch up on the red end pieces
The other cool thing i wanted to show, is the matching Shimano DX shoes, which i luckily have saved. They are in usable condition actually
They also got a proper clean, and a tidy up .Also treated the leather with some leather care products for my car
So as usual, here are some pictures of the parts ,and I hope you like them
Greetings from Norway, Stefan
Grind down some of the paint, and uneven surface.Ready for paint
Painted the outer frames
Painting done.
Before paint.
After paint.Used heatpaint on these black grippy plates
REady to be put back together.I did not do anything to the clip mechanism. As i am not after having them looking all brand new...but rather make them a tad better than they were
Before cleaning the shoes, untouched for 22 years
Cleaned
Some more mood pictures of the pedals n shoes
The restored original pedals
The second set of pedals i bought..to the left ...and the restored ones to the right
The second set of pedals,,and my RaceFace crank posing with its NOS Mrp chaindedevice
I just wanted to show you my recent purchase
With that said...i should maybe start a new thread on the pre 1998 stuff..as i am working on bikes from before and after 1998
One of my favourite long travel suspension forks ever to be made.,,and yes it was a DH fork
I remember so well when these came out,and I was gutted to never beeing able to get one.
They were rumoured to be smooth like a knife through butter,,like a katana sword through velvet,,,and yes they were indeed plush and smooth.
So here...26 years later,i finally got one
A 1996! Marzocchi Bomber Z1 ,and it is 99 percent mint condition
Super happy to see that the restoration of it is gonna be an easy one
This has to be an early one also,as the stampings show 1996 all over, which is friggin awesome.
Im not sure which bike im gonna put it on though, as i have a 1995 Kona AA,and a 1996 Kona SexThree,,,so i guess we will see
Eitherway, I hope you like the pics.
