Nobby nics puncture all the time..alternatives needed

Re:

Mine are pacestar compound, 2.35 on the front running at 35psi, 2.1 rear , running at 45psi. I'm also from devon like yourself so probably running the same trials , exmoor , dartmoor , quantocks?
Never had any issues with mine found them to be really confidence inspiring.

Re:

Mine are stock on my saracen zen so likely to be cheapest available.

Its mainly at Haldon I have issues and the flint is bad there but surprisingly few punctures on my retro rides/old tyres.

Tried different ranges. The first part of the red at Haldon has a lot of stones where it drops in, that's where I get most of them (and the two in 300m which started this thread a few weeks ago).

I've ordered something different - a tubeless ready fat albert (£19.99 at planet x) with snakeskin protection. See how that fares..

I've found that the snakeskin sidewall has been good on the tyres that I have - my Hans Dampfs were on for best part of 18 months and never punctured even at low pressues (I did burp them at sub-20psi riding corners as hard as I could). That included trips to BPW, CYB, 'Degla, the Peaks plus DH runs at Stile Cop.

I will say that I am not massively known for being super hard on tyres - even on a full on DH bike I got away with XC tubes with DH tyres. Even in the Alps.

Re:

I run Nobby Nics on my Cube HT, great tyres IMO, a bit squirmy on road, but I rarely ride MTB on the road. Had them for a few years, one puncture and that was recently at Clayton Vale, the place is full of broken glass!

Interesting to read all the comments on Nobby Nics...just fitted a pair of the folding version to my C16R and headed off to some very rocky Spanish trails of the predominantly red variety....ran at 40psi...the tyres seemed to stick even when there was nothing to stick to and boosted my confidence no end....apart from very wet rock....but three pinch flats and one full on puncture in five rides made me wonder if I'm doing something wrong...will keep checking this thread for other peoples comments

Re:

Three pinch flats means you are ramming through to the rim. So either more air pressure, tougher innertubes, ride better or convert to tubeless.
Or try snakeskin version as they have thicker/tougher wall and therefore have a different capacitive/spring setup on the tyre.
