Next Year's (now This Year's) Classic Rides

Heh heh, looks like we were posting at the same time. 71 names on the list to date but I don't know what the max is.

I was a bit surprised at the number of bang up to date machines on there...not that there is anything wrong with that but I was just surprised that a ride labeled "Vintage Velo" caught the eye of someone with a Scott CR1.

EDIT: I see that the CR1 was actually introduced in 2003 so not necessarily a new fangled machine.

The vintage tag isn't a rigid requirement so I guess we have to accept some modern bikes.;). It probably appeals to people who like the sound of the classic climbs without it being a super-tough/long event and its reasonably priced. I would ride it on a modern bike if I didn't have a suitable 80s one. I only wish I'd kept my old "wool" jerseys and cotton caps for the full effect.

Mark.
PS: I think the vintage bikes need more than 10 minutes head start on the modern ones.

Still too modern to be taken seriously on this event I reckon. Anything with STIs or Ergos is just plain cheating!

I must be one of the elite riders. I'm named as a 'Mister', not like the rest of you oiks :D

Still not decided which bike to ride but so long as it has a 38 x 28 it could be one of several.

Wasn't the limit 200 riders?

Online Pendle riders list isn't fully up to date but jave got confirmation by email that I've got a place.
Anyone got an emergency one month training plan?

Ride yer bike as much as possible and up as many hills as you can find.

But don't overtrain yourself and be useless on the day ;)

I'll be relying on you for a bit of shelter
