Newbie to the retro world....

Hello all.just discovered your site and it is ace...a real antithesis to the weird stuff they produce today!
Anyway...just aquired today....1987 GT Tequesta...original...full STX..as new...original pads, tyres,....amazing blue and yellow splatter paint job...no marks and no rust. Just pulled apart to clean and inspect..original headset and bearings as new....just amazing.
AND...1987 Specialised Hardrock FS..not pulled apart yet, but totally as new..dark green..yellow graphics...mint.
Also have as my good off-roader, a1999 Mount Vision Pro..with original Manitou Ti forks, yellow stem etc...wicked bike,.
Will post some pics of my new toys when cleaned and built back up.
By the way...any idea of any values for the above..? Cheers.

Welcome, nice to see another early Mount Vision rider. Is your bike on it's original swing arm?

STX isnt 1987. stx came about in1994, around which time there was indeed a blue/yellow tequesta

Mount vision pro...original yellow Ti forks.yellow stem, and yellow swingarm...and it rides so much better than my Spesh FSR.
When i saw the mount vision..it was just the above, with original vanilla shock, no components or wheels....i knew i had to have it- it just looks so right- strong, well built, simple design...a true classic i reckon, in every sense of the word.

Hi buddy welcome to the site, sounds like you have a couple of interesting bikes there.

One question though, are you sure about the year? STX was not around in the 80's, and I'm not sure Specialised were offering Front suspension on their entry level Hardrock in '87 either.

I'm no expert but the FS usually refers to front/full suspension which would not be fitted to a Hardrock in 1987 and I suspect the Hardrock might not have existed in 1987 !!!!!

Advisable not to make claims as to exact date of bikes and components unless you purchased it new at the time or possess a catalogue from that date.

All I know regarding my Retro bikes a regards age was one came from some point in the 1980's and another from some point in the early 1990's.

Anyway if its not new then its Retro unless there are parameters I do not know of yet.

Velomaniac, I think this new guy has got the message now, so hopefully we can help him/her to date the bikes once we see some pic's. This also applies to you too. The guys on here have enough knowledge and experience collectively to date bikes and refer to exact spec's pretty accurately.

Surely it's best to welcome all newbies with open arms, and offer to help them to correct any inaccuracies in their knowledge, and bring them into the fold, no?

Hay, no woories. I am only going by the sellers details...more than willing to be guided in the right direction as to exactly what i have...it's actually quite exciting to have to try and identify the bikes!
From what i've already read there is a fountain of acient history on this website...thanx.
