Newbie has a complaint about this site.......

Thanks for all the replies - but now half of me worries I'll become a junkie!!

I've been checking out the catalogue archives on the site and drooling over some of them - just as I did when I was about 15 - very sad!

I've got about a dozen bikes/frames in my eBay watch list - getting ready to pull the trigger on one soon - just can't decide which...the way I'm justifying it is that if I were to go out and buy a new bike now, I'd realistically spend at least £600 to get something I'd be happy with (maybe more), so whatever I end up with will end up much less than that - I'm not after anything rare or exotic - just a mid to top end "production" bike - something that I couldn't afford back in the day.

@misteroo: I spotted that Kona....was really drawn to it as I def want a rigid fork so this was perfect but thought a Ti frame was prob a bit expensive for a first build!

I've got a nice 95 Kona Cindercone for sale, and some Rock Shox Judy XC's.
And some nice NOS Ritchey rigid tange forks! ;)

Welcome...
I only came on here to see what a Pace looked like as a mate just bought one and have been on here daily (and nightly) ever since...
It's like crack only more expensive and disruptive to family life ;)

hi muppet......make a note to re-read this thread in 18 months time.....see how bad its got!!......by that time your family will be crabbing sideways through most rooms in your house, breathing in whilst inching past a bar end.......welcome to rb sir!!.....

moved back to parents late last year, and since then, 4 frames and 2 bikes, amongst others. - i brought back 4 bikes with me, and 3 frames.

I've been on here not long off two years I think and my list you can see below.

Bear in mind when I started I had a 1994 Zaskar LE and a Peugeot Roadie.

And happened to be 15.

So I'm doing well.

Got a longterm partner that doesn't mind my bikes. Just aslong as she has a dog.

So one dog for about 3k spent in around 2 years no problem for me.

I say Ti is good to start on. I started on a Zaskar LE and went from there to my current build Yo Eddy.

Hope you find peace here.

Don't worry, that's pretty normal round these parts :D. I'm on my 3rd retro ride in a year and the Mrs is becoming increasingly suspicious at me spending so much time in my man cave

Im not surprised....man cave.......

In the words of IDB1 on my thread.

Oh ghee man.

That was so amazingly hilarious.

Right.... so I've now done it!

Ended up winning a 93 Cannondale M2000 on the Bay - usual story, set myself a limit and then got into a crazed frenzy in the last 2 minutes where I overspent my budget by another £100. Think I ended up overpaying cos I've got carried away - but been looking for a while and this is the only high spec rigid Dale I've seen in a 22 (I'm 6"4), looked mint/original and was driving distance...

It was one of those Wayne's world moments - unlike me, got completely carried away (She will be mine, oh yes she will be mine... :D )

Anyway, got it home now and don't care! She is immaculate (no sign of any rust even on any of the bolts)- sorry only phone pics below (as can't find camera charger). Looks to be completely original down to the XT Shark Fin(!), skewers, the XT thumbies still have the plastic cellophane thin layer on the top cover - even the chain/freewheel seem to be original. Ritchey headset, chainset & seatpost, ControlTech stem, Mavic 231s are all present and correct. It even has some weird bar ends, but look to be original Cannondale items, so will be leaving them on. Even though they look weird, they're surprising comfortable to lean on when knackered.

Only non-original items seem to be XT V brakes (too much brake travel, need to get some XT cantis - thought I had some but turns out my "find" included three left handed arms with no springs/bolts). Also seat is a Bikehut one (got a Ritchey one lying about somewhere - not period correct but more fitting) and pedals are cheap plastic Wellgo jobbies (replace those with something, not sure what yet).

Even the paint work is immaculate - few chainstay chips and a few scratches where she's been leaned up against railings etc but still sparkling in the sunshine.

Gonna treat her to a new chain and freewheel, XT cantis and call her done. Compete overkill as a "general purpose fitness/mooch around towpaths and take the kids to the park" bike, but I don't care. She's fast, light and a dream to ride on the road.

Oh, and before anyone says it, I've done my research and have read on the problems with these extended seatstay / dropout Cannondale frames, but this one looks to have never left the road!

Was just thinking on my short run round the block that if I ebay off my other two bikes (now redundant, I could stretch to a similar vintage Steelie to keep her company - maybe a cheapish Saracen that needs some work) ....you b@stards - she's going to kill me :D

:D
