Vaping was very much in its infancy when I finally decided to quit, so much so that you could only buy them from market stalls. I knew what was in a Marlboro Red but didn't trust the vapes to be any less deadly. I used inhalators, the plastic tampon lookalike thingies, to help me quit.
I did of course have the added motivation of having a really big scare where my GP "forgot" to tell me he was sending me to see a guy who happened to be a lung (and lung cancer) specialist as well as the standard tests after some bloody phlegm. Turned out to be a great tactic as shitting myself proved to be a much stronger motivation than saving a few quid!
The guy was also a cyclist which helped the case for stopping... He was sprinting up hills I was getting off and walking.
Good luck with quitting, I hope its easy in the end!
Edited to add my resolutions as I got interrupted by the Missus and hit "submit" by accident!
1. Cut down on the wine intake
2. Cycle some longer and different routes than my usual 3 or 4 25-50 milers
3. Get round to clearing out all the surplus cycling parts that I've been saying I'd put on ebay for at least 5 years
