New to Curly Hetchins

Another day, some more cleaning - and polishing.

One unexpected ‘problem’ was separating the locked nuts - tightly locked!

The inner one required a thin spanner. Couldn’t find one until

Yep, finally a use for a “Raleigh spanner”.

Now the levers.
Bizarrely the only thing those flat stamped spanners are good for, and yet they numbered in their millions in the 1970s,

Getting there

Rode it with original GB levers. As expected, not adequate for operating brakes when riding on hoods.

Swapped rear lever for 105. Noticeably better. Will add matching lever.

‘Period appropriate’ wheels still to be built.

105 rear mech to be replaced shortly.

Add bar tape.

Intend to add extra chain ring, but will run as 7 speed first.

That is a lot of cable showing on here - not sure what has happened to the gear cable, why is is not covered by bar tape? And the bars and saddle angles, what is going on there?

Personal choice…

Gear mech/cable interim

Brake levers not in same place as each other

Finding out what is most comfortable

Saddle off other bike, not comfortable (yet)

Expect bars will be swivelled and stem raised

Marginally adjustments, marginal gains

Most fun, fast too.
