New shoes, old cleats... ?

My faithful old SPD shoes have finally given up the ghost after many years loyal service. I've picked up some new ones, and managed to liberate the old cleats.

Quick Q for the hive-mind, as I've long since forgotten what I did last time I had new shoes. With new shoes is it worth new Shimano cleats? Or is it the case that new cleats will be an 4rse with older pedals.

I like new cleats, they are meant to wear out before the pedals so you should be fine.

I keep meaning to replace mine, but then something shiny comes along and meh.

Yes, you won’t believe how sloppy and vague the old ones were.
New shoes deserve new cleats.
