New Pauls Components SS crank

So Pauls components have released a new SS crank for use only with iso taper BBs'. Seems strange to limit himself to one design of taper :?

Particularly since conversions of older bikes is a big market for singlespeed, i might've presumed it was the majority.

ISIS bottom brackets aren't generally considered to be as good as taper fit for single speed use - that's probably why... :?:

He's using the 'Campy' taper for some reason.

Campag square taper is a good enough standard, until Ultra Torque was introduced relatively recently Big Tom Boonen was using square taper Campag b/bs with little ill effect and I suspect he puts a bit of power down.

Plus Campag square taper b/bs are stupidly good value for money and very durable so might be able to offset the cost of the cranks (how much are they by the way?)

A few of companies are still doing ISO BB , Specialite TA , Stronglight .

Paul, I guess just did not wan their cranks associated with Shimano .

I wasnt referring to him not making it specific to isis BBs'. I was referring to him not using the far more commonly used JIS taper.

Just wondered what is the best cranks for single speed? is Sugino any good?

I've used Suntour, Middleburn, Shimano and, on the road, Campag chainsets with a single ring. All worked absolutely fine and would expect Sugino to be the same (the key is getting the right length b/b so that the chainline is good, and using an unramped chainring)

The 06-07 CAMPAG CENTAUR square taper bottom bracket is a really good quality and greatly priced piece of kit

Would certainly balance out the cost of some PAUL cranks :roll:

Ive gone for WHITE INDUSTRIES ENO cranks with a UN-73 bottom bracket and i must say flex free up to now
