Hello all. I am a old fart that lives near Warrington and I love Klunkerz and old retro stuff of all kinds. Hell, I still listen to music on vinyl! Don't ride far these days but still pootle around on my old Muddy Fox.

Many thanks. I look forward to posting more and - who knows - maybe actually meeting up with some of you guys. Anyone live in my area? Warrington, Newton-le-Willows and surrounds?

Hello Joe,
I'm another newbie, I'm just the other side of Warrington near Northwich.

Pete.

I know Delamere pretty well and have covered a fair chunk of it over the years, I lived in Cuddington as a kid and we'd cycle up there 3 or 4 times a week during the summer evenings.
But even now I still find routes that I've not done before... or if I have the beer has faded those memories!!! lol.
Plus they have created a load of new paths, especially leading up (& down) Old Pale.

I used to be a member of the RSF & St. Helens CTC for my sins many, many years ago but a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then - I'm talking the late 80's when I stopped hard cycling. Now I'm a fat old man but have the spirit - if not the knees - to want to ride properly again instead of just about town as I do now. Delamere I used to know but it has changed over the years. Maybe a slow, gentle ride with lots of stops I could manage but my other problem is I have no car - never had one as I've always cycled, walked or used public transport. My partner, Debbie, has a car but I don't so my problem is I can't get to the meetings. Probably just as well in my state!

I don't drive either but there's quite often a train station or a benevolent soul that will get you there. I go to rides from Man Picc mainly and there's quite a few rides that start a couple of miles from a station.

You are right of course. Let the train take the strain! I was toying with the idea of going to Llandudno on the train and having a scoot around there when I get a little fitter - probably next year now. The train goes straight there from my local station and another goes straight to Chester so I have no real excuse for not using them so I shall!
Regards,
Joe.
