yes all ready to go cant wait, just going to run my old chain and sprockets till i have the money then will get new. Was thinking white or brown grips and seat not to sure at the moment, any ideas ? and going home on mothers day so will pinch a camera then, anyone else got any pics of your cheap ss builds or just cheap commuter projects
Well for starters there is a good debate going on now on the forum over 'White' grips, I have some on my Kona Cindercone, they are Lizard Skins Peaty Lock-on Grips and are really comfortable, and sticky grips. As with most things its a personal thing and budget dependant, both my Orange C16R's have 'Orange Friction Addiction' grips which are also really comfy grips, but not Lock-on, but are within keeping of the bike and build. My Single Speed Trek had 'Race Face Good-n-Evil' grips, got them for a song from Chain Reaction Cycles, again not Lock-on but ideal for a commuter bike. Although my lad loved them so much he brought some funky red 'Race Face' ones for his Giant Yukon FX3.
On a tangent, i was in 'dare i say it' Halfords the other day, had a browse around the very limited bike section and saw some Club Roost Grips and some very Retro looking Tioga Grips, both at £6 a pair, both not bad budget grips.
As you can se its an exaustive subject, and one that only you will decide. dont pay out a fortune, but find one that comfy, they have varying degrees of density, grip, and come in Lock-on and Push fit. (I find some soapy water is ideal for putting Push-fit grips on, as its not as heavy as washing up liquid, which can take an eternity to evaporate and dry up.
Ok think we'e discussed grips to death lol, but its passed an otherwise dull moment at work and now its Tea Break so bonus
Keep us posted on how its going,
