Need help Identify year of a Marin Palisades.

Hi there, new here. I'm trying to find out what year this Marin Palisades could be. I'm starting to lean it is very late 80s. Of it is it's in an amazing condition. I don't believe this was ridden at all. Qualify as NOS? Maybe? Anyway I see most of you are from the UK. I'm in the US so I hope you guys can help out. Thank you.

The US colours were always different to the UK, but I suspect it's 1987 or earlier.

I reckon 1989, with the exage stuff. The uk got a mid blue colour, everywhere else seemed to get a splatter effect or one single colour.
Looks to be in super condition.

I'm puzzled that it has a freewheel. IIRC the 89 ones had freehubs. The colour is right for 89, but the bits aren't. https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/marin-1989-catalogue-maybe-88-in-french-tho.237149/

Reckon it's an 89 too, plenty of parts the same as my 89 Tufftrax. You could get grey frame, yellow forks, stem and bar in the UK too.

Wonder if they offered each model in the neon yellow that year as I have seen 89 Muirwoods and Pine Mountain's in that colour? Possibly team colours as the British factory team were on neon PM's that year?

Lovely bike btw, box fresh. My mate used to have a similar condition 89 Bear Valley that was equally as ace.

That frame number post is not strictly correct. It only works on certain numbers post 92.

So by following this mine would fall under late 80s or the year 89.
