Navigation in the Modern World

That tunnel still isn't finished. The company building it has gone bust. It was to be used to take chemicals to Redcar IIRC.
Going to be 26 miles long wasn't it?
There's a potash mine at boulby that now produces poly halidte instead. 3 shafts, 2 that mine and one thats a waste. The 26 mile tunnel was developed by sirius as part of woodhead mine. They are around 16 miles in to it. The mine shaft has also been sunk. Now owned by Anglo America, its still going ahead.

Boulby came first and is on the same seam. They have a rail line thar runs up to Redcar at Teesport for export.

An update:

Last week I got a Garmin Edge1030 plus in the Black Friday Madness. Got a great deal on it, and I have to say I am really impressed with it. Much better than trying to use my phone. Plus it means I alway have phone battery in case of emergency, as GPS apps seem to eat batteries pretty quickly!

I plan my routes with the OS app on my laptop, then transfer the GPX files to the Garmin. Simple to do, and works a treat.
