Name that Marin!

It does as it goes, the frames a bit of a lighter grey and gloss though, the whole groupset is mountain LX (don't know if I mentioned that ) am I getting it wrong on the shimano food chain? was mountain LX a low spec?

Plus it's pretty light, I remember my palisades weighing 1 metric ton!

Staf.

excuse my explanation as one has started on the vino, its a sort of grey matt finish that was meant to be most hardwearing by my understanding, it feels sort of erm, like its got a very fine sort of stoney stuff in it, like very fine wetndry type stuff, thats my understanding

i think the whole thing about it was it was and pretty much is bombproff i.e a very hard wearing finsih,

though as you say your finish is glossy i may well be very wrong,

erm

The Zolatone Form finishes use flecks of sparkling, light reflective materials to create a shimmer that moves light throughout the room

oh i dont know really

and with my limited knowlegde ,lx is up the food chain, did they even have xtr in those days, think it was DX, LX and XT, again , and some bits they used to snaffle from road bikes,

dont know which order things came in though

It does.

I collected and posted a mint Muirwoods for chrisv40 this week, and I can verify it feels like very, very fine wet and dry!

99% sure it's a 1989, and 100% sure it's a Palisades. Same colour as the '90 but with normal paint for the frame instead of zolatone.

I had a 1989 Saracen Tufftrax that had full Mountain LX (except for the deore thumbies ;) ). Tufftrax and Palisades were around the same price point.

That would make everything sort of make sense. But battleship grey is surely only a selling point if it has the zolatone properties
