The great thing about retro bikes is that they can be a canvas for your own creations. You can build them back to original specification or you can modernise them as much as you like...

I think you have done a super job on this build and the most important thing is that you love riding it...that's reason enough :)
Thank you.

I think you've built a really nice bike and as the others have said, as long as it makes you want to ride it, you've done everything right.
I also really like the performance of the Marzocchis, but unfortunately they are also quite tall. On an old frame, the bottom bracket quickly gets very high and it looks unusual in my eyes.
I have pretty much the same plans as you and hope I can find a solution. What diameter is the seat post? I need one with 27mm and can't find anything. That's why I'm using a Hite Rite at the moment.

Anything that gets you started is good enough and with a big S Rockhopper you can't really go that wrong... So it's a solid start of a rig you have there!

As you work on bikes and look around this forum you will find your "retro" taste changing.

That's the nice thing about this forum.

You see, you ask around for advice when building, you learn about the history of brands and their different models of parts over the years and you end up with a ride that will stand apart while aslo being build by you.

Can't think of a better deal nowadays! 🤓
