I would like to introduce myself, and my daily driver.

Im from Hungary, i am 19 years old and i consider myself as a retro mtb enthusiast.

This is my neo-retro Specialized Rockhopper wich is put together with random parts, as you can see.
I love old steel frames, but would like to enjoy the benefits of more modernish parts.
For example this model of marzocchi is the smoothest suspension i have ever ridden.
And i can say confidently that theese v brakes compete with mid range disc brakes without an issue

I have ridden many many bikes but none compeete with this one, for me this is THE bike.

Im courious of your opinions, if you think this is a desecration of a retro frame, or the other way around, let me know

I think it looks pretty good. If it makes you want to ride it, and if riding it makes you happy, then you didn't do anything wrong.

Looks good, I have a very similar S-Works 'hopper from '95 which I've put thousands of miles on, and it's still going.

Welcome. Nice to hear you appreciate the retro frames at your young age despite being surrounded by plastic, generic modern frames.

I'm like you when it comes to builds. The retro frame is the soul of the bike, but there have been improvements in components over the years, so take advantage of those on an old frame where standards allow.

Nice build, if you like it and it rides as you want, it's all good in my book.

The great thing about retro bikes is that they can be a canvas for your own creations. You can build them back to original specification or you can modernise them as much as you like...

I think you have done a super job on this build and the most important thing is that you love riding it...that's reason enough

Yes it is!
We were sceptical about it fitting, but it did and works great so yeah im happy about it.
