My Pat Hanlon

Retro Newbie
Hi, first post.

I grew up near her Bowes Road shop which closed when I was about 15, and I finally bought one a few years back.

I'd like to know more if anyone can help, like the year it was made and if it has Nervex lugs for example. 20210302_143456.jpg

Thanks to everyone for the replies and trying to help. I appreciate it.

It has a Bowes Road badge meaning 1970s but because of the round fork and crown, like Hetchins, and the tops of the seat stays, I thought it might actually be 1960s, a Tottenham frame but repainted in the 1970s.

Anyway, I think I will just restore it with 1980s record. Cannot decide whether to have the lugs, rear end and fork chromed or just leave it. Paint is in good condition. It has only one shifter boss, I'd like two though!

All in all it has lovely lug work, double fork crown, rear facing droputs (TT?) and seatstay/seatpost junction. It is a beautiful frame but it feels 1960s rather than 1970s.

Nice frame. The round forks, double crown and rear facing ends point to it being built as a 'road/path' frame for general fixed gear use. The gear hanger may have been fitted later by someone wanting to use gears as well. I fitted gears to an old JRJ road/path frame when I was a lad for winter use with gears but used the hanger attached to the Campag Gran Sport mech. The angle wasn't really correct and it didn't always behave itself - and getting the wheel out with mudguards etc. was a real PITA!
