My old frames from bitd

Re:

I have a question guys (yes another one)

I cant get the bike to shift into the big ring on the front. The limit it screw is backed right out. What's the problem is my bb to wide causing the cranks to sit to far outboard of the frame???

you may need to re-adjust the cable tension; did you tension the cable and set-up correctly in the inner ring?

Re:

Yes I think so. I set the limit screw for the inner ring and fitted the cable.
It seems even working the mech by hand it won't swing far enough out for the outer ring

Measure from the center of the middle ring to the center of the seat tube. Should be 47.5 - 50mm

Hi there

Yes that's what I did. I was at about 58 mm (old bb had the original sugino cranks - I've now xt on)

I changed the bb and all seems good with the front shifting now

Thanks

Quite happy

It brings a tear to my eye to see an old Kona brought back to life like that. Good job, Sir.

Now how about showing the Lava Dome some love?

Re:

Thanks for the compliment Adam

Unfortunately the Lava Dome frame bent slightly towards the end of 93 and the kilauea frame was a warranty replacement from Kona

The more I see well restored Kona's the more I think I need one. Beautiful job and lovely looking bike. :)
