Found it at "marktplaats" bought it back for Bas (the seller wasn't the thieve and he was gutted to hear it was nicked and I tend to believe him)

Pics will follow soon, first diner as I skipped that to take inmediate action

So what exactly was his reason for selling an uber-rare bike that he has only owned for eight months?

Here we go,

Spotted the ad on Marktplaats this evening and decided to contact the seller directly, made him an offer and we agreed that I would pick the bike up inmediatly (30km from my house). I called Bas in the meantime and we agreed to buy the bike back before confronting the seller. Handling this way was the best chance to get the bike back wich was most important! I paid the seller and when I had the bike on my carrier I called him back and told him the true story about the bike, he was truly gutted (or a very good actor ). He bought the bike half a year ago and paid serious money. He never suspected the bike to be stolen, I tend to believe him as he's a regular seller on Marktplaats for over 5 years and I have his phone number and home address.
Most important, the bike is in good nick and Bas will drop by coming week to reunite

Did he show you emails/ads from when he bought it? I tend to not delete bike correspondence, especially on rarer purchases I make. I'd ask him to forward them, otherwise, I'd be highly suspect that he doesn't deal in stolen goods on a regular basis- perhaps why he is such an active seller.

To be honest, I don't think he really knew what he had bought/sold. He had some knowledge about bikes (mostly roadbikes) He knew it was Ti and had good specs. but had never heard of Nuke Proof. We must understand not every one is a freak like us :roll:

but if I might ad- the bikes thieves here in nyc, don't know much about the bikes they steal, other than the basics and that they're worth something. Also, any thief worth their bolt cutters, can put on a GoldenGlobe worthy piece of acting
