My first bike...

This is the first bike I can remember having, a 3 geared Tri-ang Dragster (not my pic!). It was hidden in the cupboard at the top of the stairs and I accidentally found it a month before Christmas 1971 or 72. It was bought from the Post Office of all places and the old geezer who ran it showed me how to change the gears etc. Of course once on it you did what the hell you wanted. Most of my mates had the Raleigh Choppers and could do wheelies but this one stubbornly refused to do them (or I wasn't brave enough!), but it was about half again as big as a Chopper.
I remember riding to Haslingden and back at the weekends with my friends. Not something you could do these days without serious consideration of the fact that you might not return. In winter I remember riding around the streets at night during the 1970's power cuts (there were very few cars about in those days). In foggy weather the headlight looked like the beam from a lighthouse.
Ahhhhh those were the days, the days lasted a lifetime, the sun shone forever and two bob would buy you enough sweets to sink a battleship.
