My Bontrager race build. Update 2/4/15

I built this bike up like I do with my other bikes, as an aid to relaxing and unwinding from the day to day stress, and a view to actually getting out and riding!

Some may recognise this frame from previous owners, i hope they are agreeable with the build.

The frameset came to me from my good friend in exceptional condition, i decided to build it up with components and parts that i feel compliment the frame.

The bike has been finished for a few weeks now, and has been out on a couple of good weather rides.

Im really impressed with the way it rides, very comfortable on the trail, has a nice bit of inbuilt flex to the frame but not to the point it feels vague.
On the climbs it flies, and the M900 works as it should.

All in all, im very happy with the bike, and it will be in my "staying" pile for some time.

SPEC LIST

1994 Bontrager OR race in custom powder coat and fresh decals (previous owner)

Repainted and NOS decaled Rock Shox Judy SL with custom internals.

XTR m900 groupset other than m732 front mech.

Specialized rims.

USE seat post.

Grey perforated Flite Ti.

Control Tech stem.

Alloy 25.4 bars.

Control Tech bar ends.

Panaracer Smoke & Dart tyres.

Random grips.

Hey Nial, what a great colourscheme, the Judys really work well.

Regarding low hanging objects, we all used to ride like that back in the day.

My first mtb, Dawes was a server danger...till I got the frame changed for free by dawes to a 17"

Thank god for paint loss..(new frame under warranty)

rather partial to a Bontrager dunno what it is but they always look more classy than a Kona etc

closest I ever came to owning one was a early 90's Rock Lobster which looked very similar ...well it did to my untrained eye at the time, and almost 20 years has done the rest,

I know what you mean, Kona's are nice, but if im going steel,i like something a little less common (shhhh don't let Rojo read that )

Its funny you should mention the Rock Lobster, I built one for my father in law for Christmas in a very similar aviator grey, a quick spin around the block it felt quite a nice ride
