My bikes.

Amazing work Bob! 😍 Got any skin left on them hands?!* ;)

Chrome is a nightmare.

IMO you're better off with chrome that's already damaged as you can always make it look better because/rescue it just as you have done. New chrome on bikes over time will just deteriorate unless they are kept inside and that is just not possible in many situations! I got a fair few bits on some custom Chopper parts chromed and they all slowly became tatty/rusty over time which is just depressing.

Great work on the delrin, you should try some light oil on yourself!!! 🤣

Thanks mate, I bet that was sad watching that happen. Especially considering the cost of chrome. Jo and my son inform me I have leather hands.
Light oil? It puts the lotion on ..
The bits were chromed in the mid 90s to a high standard and at a fair price. Today getting anything chromed is crazy pricey, I wouldn't even want to know the cost vs. what I paid and no doubt the chemicals are probably not as good/bad depending on your view.

Nothing wrong with leather hands! I get accused of having farmers hands and I work in the creative industry where we should all have soft hands! My work colleagues can spot my dirty (but clean as far as I'm concerned!) hands over Zoom/video calls!!! 🤣 🤪

Got the pedals ready for reassembly today. Ran the dynamo wiring and connected everything up. No idea if we have any output. I'm now starting the wheels @Woz
I'm just going outside. I may be some time.

:) also done the fantastic trick of removing dynamo's before checking if they worked. At one point had a box of five to get rid off. Tested them with just one bulb, took the rubber tyre grip off, put the spindle in the chuck of an electric drill 😁 I was surprised all of them sold on Ebay.

Good luck with the wheels. You are a brave man to attempt to remove that rust from the rims and hope there is no dents. The hubs will probably be fine, but the rear axle is worth checking - they are rather soft and can bend but also can be straightened out.

Kind of realised looking at the brake pad position you are forced to use 27" right?

I've got 27" coming out of my ears, so it's getting them! I want to salvage the wheels. I do have a pair of campag LF with Mavic's waiting. That's if I like the way it rides or it will be sold. It may be sold even if I like it. I'm tripping over bicycles and part's.
