A bit of progress with the Cindercone today, fitted the new Tioga headset and a new Shimano BB. Got rid of those stickers off the driveside on the top tube and downtube which revealed the original yellow so must have been on for a very long time. Then touched up the driveside chainstay area to tidy it up and cleaned up the brake posts so they'll work properly. Just a couple of other areas i've missed like on the forks then it's ready for polishing, overall it's in really good condition

Starting to get some parts on it and getting a feel for the build. I'm more thinking about looks for this build with black being a main thing so it won't be catalogue correct.
I've had a nos black Mountain LX u-brake and a nos Mountain LX front mech lying around for ages also i had some black Mountain LX cantilevers in good condition,so saying it originally came with Mountain LX they've gone on.
Also thought I'd try that stem and white bars set up which i think works with the black XT levers and black shifters, if you imagine black grips on, there won't be to much white showing of the bars.
Those black shimano thumbshifters are 6 speed but have a solid 7th click so maybe they'll stay maybe they won't.
Wheels are oem spec off the very first 89 Cindercone from earlier in the thread but not sure if they'll stay yet could swap them for black rims,those new black quick releases will be staying though. Just need to cut them down a little bit because there is a bit of the axle poking through on the front and rear, rear must be a 135.
The mountain lx chainset will probably stay but i wouldn't mind an all black version to see what that's like, is anyone stripping a 89 Saracen
The saddle and seatpost are off my other Cindercone just to make it look like a bike, i want a black seatpost on it instead.

Bit more work done on the Cindercone last night and a couple of photos with the other Cindercone.
The new black seatpost and bars arrived yesterday (had to be black bars) so they went on and put the Avocet saddle from the other bike.
Changed the wheels over to black rims which looks way better and put some Smokes and Darts on there with a new cassette and chain.
Also some black bolts arrived for a finishing touch when the new black bottle cage arrives that old one will be swapped out,i think the black cage breaks the white up nicely.
Just need to find some nice thumbshifters from the stash box and it'll be ready to cable up also i may swap the chainrings to black ones
Then it'll be finished and some lucky new owner will be able to enjoy it because i've decided to sell it bit daft having two Cindercones really.

I was tempted to keep the Cindercone but it just seemed daft but you know me mate i might convince myself i need it in the collection
A couple of quick pics of the Cindercone now that it's all cabled up and set up ready for a shake down spin tomorrow to check everythings ok.
Got the new black bottle cage on and it just breaks the white up just enough, just need some bar end plugs to finish it off.
Overall very happy with how it turned out, the black parts do the job to make the frame and forks stand out which was what i was looking for.
I think whoever gets to own it will be very happy
