I have zero musical talent. But the big boss (wife) plays Viola well enough to be able to waltz (see what I did there?) into pretty much any amateur orchestra. She also plays saxophone (preferring her alto to the more common tenor) and piano to a reasonable standard. Little boss (9-year-old daughter) plays the cornet/trumpet and can extract a tune from the piano.

Yes, though when they first started appearing i went to demo a Roland TDK and while i had a couple of hours of fun with the different sounds/kits, it just wasn't the same. The pads had no bounce or feel, the cymbals were still the weak point sound wise, i have played on a modern version the other year and they have definitely come a long way since the original kits, much improved feel and pretty convincing cymbals too, the price though i could not at the time justify for the amount of time i would actually play it now, though i am trying to get a friends dormant kit off of them, good cause and all that

I also looked into using triggers on a normal kit bitd, which makes more sense to me, though you are left with the same issues, noise or if using practice pads, a lack of feel.

Tired of the thin tone from the weedy aingle coil pup on my '54 transition precision, so fitted a mighty mudbucker...



It now sounds like the sonic equivalent of being mugged! Just waiting for a switch to arrive so I can wire in some coil tap combinations, then its done.
