Mudguard woes - what's gone wrong?

I sacrifice effectiveness for cool
Up until it’s -5c , pissing it down , and your 30 miles from home.

My opinion with guards is either do it properly or don’t bother. As none are cool (crud excluded) but they serve a purpose
 
I understand as I live in England. As I always come prepared and I don’t even think I can fit sks one on my bike as my tires are 2.25 in wide. Plus I’ve got very cool yellow cruds👍👍
 
I have the same mudguards fitted and think that the stays are not actually joined to the mudguards, they grip on fairly snug but you can slide them along the guard which means you can make the guard better follow the profile of the wheel. One thing I did end up doing was to remove the front section of the front mudgard as in use it would wobble around and bounce off the front tyre.

Edit - more like slide the mudguard through the stays to get a better profile
