It's the edge of the weld where the colour is still holding on so I don't think there is a problem. I think the frame is generally sound and it could be a good candidate for an SS'er. I could use the old Alivio gear as a tensioner and single ring the chainset.

I might strip the forks and service them as the 'rebound' seems reasonably OK. I'm not a connasewer (!) of suspension forks, they all seem the same to me

I think whoever owned it scraped the purple off so it could be a lacquer rather than anodising. I'll try some stripper on it.

You've found your SSUK09 bike if I'm not mistaken :D

Skip find special, with a bit of TLC and that would go around a course no problem.

The bike might not be a problem - but it wouldn't go round a course on its own - and that's were the problem is - ME!

I'll have to get plenty of practice to stop myself reaching for a shifter!
