So pleased someone on here got this and has brought it back out into the light. A real piece of history.
I think you’ve got the real deal one off bike there. It looks like it shares a frame with the ‘88 limited edition and has been treated to all of the shiny bits. Carbon bars and seat post must have been pretty unusual for 1987.
It’s definitely a different frame to the Araya limited edition. I’ve got what I think is a 1984 bike, not rollercams and the seat stay junction is Araya style not fillet brazed.
So....i spent my lunch putting new tubes in & the original front one is something I've not seen before.....well rubbery...they start off clear by the look of this ebay ad:

Think it will be either a long wait or a lot of luck finding a black Sansin skewer. There’s a few silver ones about that look like the same design could maybe have a coat of black paint and stand in for the “right” one. It’s always the little parts like that that are the hardest to find!
The pedals look like a later replacement?
What’s the plan for the paint? It looks like it would come up nice with a gentle compound and wax avoiding the decals. I’d be itching to try a patch to see!
