Muddy Fox Prestige 1988 the £5k one.

all this does is re-enforce the idea that yours is the actual holey grail limited edition, the one that was alway mentioned but never seen

Seems plausible & of course that would be amazing, shame they changed the decals if thats the case as now its more of a mystery!

Must say the gilding and crappy chrome smack of something knocked up to put on a show stand, not for serious riding.

'few' as in just yours, with the rollercams and the specific frame, even coming from The Fens, I can count on the fingers of one foot that there may only ever have been the one, maybe 5 in total that ever left a shop.

the frame builders would been knocking out bikes for other brand names so they may have tweaked an existing model to create the £5000 catalogue bike

if rumour, legend, folk tales are to be believed, yours is the display bike with the later decals applied for promotion purposes

As they were transitioning from Araya to a Taiwanese builder in 1989 it's likely that a catalogue ltd edition bike would have been an early pre-prod bike and could have used an Araya frame rather than the new Taiwanese built ones.
I do agree though that the bike being discussed here is the 1988 Prestige bike. Probably a promo bike from a show and sold off afterwards. A nice piece of history and a bit of a missing link now in the fold so to speak.
