Mountain Mayhem Returns 2019 let the planning and BS begin

"Stick your thumb through all your gears for the horrid little climb up to the start of the Fibrax Flowtrail. The climb up is only short but it's a nasty little bugger that will really test the riders. The reward is a brand new section that flows nicely through the woods."

Course insights from our designer Alex. Check out the course plan online now. Course maps and GPS files will be fully published ahead of the event.

Length: 9km
Elevation: 195m

That will be my walk.

Along with a few others. Places not people.

And the last time I saw a symbol like that thing Regan posted it was in the back window of a car triggering brainwashed secret sleeper agents to carry out assassinations.

How does that compare to the old course?

On Strava the old one was 8 miles and 1,200 feet which comes out at 372 meters and 12.8k in metric

In theory the lap times have to be a lot quicker as the course is shorter and almost 50% flatter

Edit * just noticed that Strava dump includes loitering around at the start and the 1km Le Mans run

what he said, shorter and flatter so presumably quicker

Although that depends on the terrain of course.
The last track was pretty simple with only one boggy bit and a couple of steep drops, if this one is 9km of mud it may be slower / harder

Cheers - so my initial reaction when I saw the course was positive. Now it's a bit indifferent. It'll be interesting to see what it's like.

It's super-short and even with what looks like a brick wall half way, it's such a small elevation range it should be "easier" on the legs on a single lap basis. So that get's me thinking that there might be more challenging terrain e.g. rock gardens, to mix it up a bit. But then it depends on what they can do on the estate.

All speculation - all part of the fun.

One thing we can assume is the lap times will be shorter so we should be prepared to do more than we might have considered!!

Question for THM..... what’s the minimum that we have to do? ;)

(Riding, not drinking)

They said when designing the course they would try to keep the lap times the same as previous years, around 40mins, im not sure who they based that on :)
