While my Shockwave MK1 is on the back burner waiting for an asshole seller to finally send out the front hub, I figured I would start getting the NOS 9.5 assembled.
This was one of the partial frames the English bloke had on eBay with all the other MC bits.
The frame was listed as “pre owned” but it had never been assembled.
It was missing the rear swing arm but the shock and suspension links were there.
A long time member of a MC FB group gratefully sold me a NOS rear swing arm.
A 2003 Monster and MTX39 rims just seemed perfectly overkill.
Finding the direct mount #12 Hope front brake for the Monster took some work.
I will be finishing and test riding this week, but I figured I would get some info posted.
More photos to come during shake down.
This thing is a beast
In a very difficult decision, I machined a .040 recess in the left fork tube to receive a stainless line clamp for the brake hose. Once the arch is installed the clamp is sandwiched and held in with an existing bolt.
A lot of people, myself included, feel safe and clean brake hose routing is a must. I am very detail oriented so the small sacrifice was worth it. Prior to final installation the clamp section of the clamp was covered with Raychem DR25 heat shrink.
2003/2004 Shockwave 9.5 frame
2003 Marzocchi Monster with direct mount stem
Obligatory NOS King headset
Hope M4 brakes
MTX39 rims in white with NOS Reverse Components hubs
Carbon Pro Taper sSL bars
NOS Sram 9.0SL rear derailleur in white and NOS matching SL Grip Shift in white
NOS Limited Edition SDG Mountain Cycle seat
NOS Hussefelt cranks with Syncros Mentals pedals in white
