Mountain bike powder coat

Does anyone have any experiences/recommendations on getting a hardtail frame powder coated? I have a Reynolds 853 frame which could do with a new lease of life. Most of the traditional firms..Mercian, Argos, etc seem to offer only stove enamel. [/b]

google for a powdercoater in your area.. plenty of them will have experience of doing bike frames.

Or tell us where you are and someone may know one nearby..

If near Bristol then there is only one place worth taking to http://www.realitymotorworks.com/ I had my Saracen done there and the result was and still is amazing, they mentioned quality of powdercoat and one of their words was avoid cheap industrial Green Garden furniture type that will fade quickly

have a look at page 3 here to see it http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... sc&start=0

I am doing another there very soon and is a third of the price Argos would charge ;)

If you're near Yorkshire then I'd recommend the spot in Bingley that did mine. Will find the name if required.
Cost about £60 and for that I just took the painted frame to them and they did the rest. Really pleased with the result.

Why is it so hard for people to put a location in their profile??

There's some great powdercoaters in Warsaw, Sydney and Outer Mongolia.. if you're local

something to consider - some places are used to dealing with buikes and know than some parts dont want to be powdered, canti studs for example. other places dont. make sure you know if they know or not!

when i had a frame done i loosely installed a bottom bracket to protect the bb shell threads, bottle bolts etc. totally forgot about the mech hanger though and had to get it chased out at a bike shop.

Recently had mine done in Iver, Bucks for £60 including blasting. Colour (choice of about 50,000 :? ) came out well but there was some residual blasting stuff baked on which took a while to get out of the bracket.
