More bad news for Evans

that is a very sad state of affairs. I do miss not having a good local shop.

Re:

Yeah, it's terrible for the staff and I hope most are able to find more security elsewhere. A real shame as the staff at the Leeds central store are great. Ashley really is a twot, isn't he?

Yes. Very. But that's how it is. No doubt he will still have millions in the bank and the Gov will help him out.

I expect their online retail business is where this is heading. Less outlay, more profit in the billionaires pocket.

Re:

His standard model is to buy out high street retailers, in time close the high street shops then sell all the products through his sports direct comapny where most in the case of bikes, will be online and direct from warehouse to your door.

It makes economic sense but if anything it identifies how much we need the small independent bike shops
to remain open if we are to retain the hobby and community part of bikes. Those local shops can only stay open if we are prepared to spend there rather than finding a local shop product then go and search on the net for cheaper options.

To the benefit of other local workshops I'm told their workshops will now only be building stock bikes & doing free 3 month services & maybe fitting new tubes & tyres.
