MORATI crankset

When I think that I bought mine in 2001 for 150 euros…

Expensive for a such beautifull but very breaking crank…

Last week, a road morati crank with boone rings and Philwood BB was sold for 900 euros

To add my two p's worth .They are an absolute work of art as a piece of bike jewellery ,They ARE expensive ,and a member of the forum is trying to sell them for what he thinks they are worth ,all ok so far? so whats the problem ??

Totally agree 100%

And they are bloody beautiful :D

But it is one hell of a price
Look at the antique/art world of auctions, when a [eg]painting sells for say a grand, you will find other paintings by that artist have already sold for that figure.
So the recognised price for that artist work averages a grand

So you must consider when buying[or selling] what is the recognised average price for said item.
Taking into account -What similar items have sold for/what is the rarity of that item/how important is it ,as a work/how badly do you want it etc etc

Worth every cent

You should ask yourself another question.

How much is your life worth?

Is your life only worth 900 euro?

Go to mtbr.com and read review of these cranks. Something can look gorgeus but still be shit

But if you want the nicest looking door handles, and you want them in Ti, maybe this is no such a bad deal after all

I have 2 sets, one of the early style, and one of the later style as pictured above. The thing I love about the Morati cranks is their ability to dampen shock and vibration. Like having an inch of travel on the rear. I build mine up with Ti BB and shave race face rings for a total of 685 grams, and they really pedal light.

As far as prone to breaking, I have to dissagree. Sure there is lots of discussion, but consider who they were designed and marketed to. I believe it was the roids popping, hamster boy masher that spent money at all costs to win. And with the late 90's producing these mutant hamster boys, I believe there were some breakage, but not any worse than alum cranks IMO. I think there are far more Cooks cranks that failed in relation. How do I know? I have a set with breakage on both arms.

I am constantly on the prowl for more. I have a non drive side on standby for a mate.

About the breaking-some of them broke, thats right, but just about reading few reviews, never rode them and wrote here, that they are shit, thats a bit silly. Few of mine friends having them on MTB for over 10 years with no issues at all. Everyting is relative:)
